Established in 2018, PowerHockey Toronto is a not-for-profit charitable organization that is ushering in the next generation of powerhockey para-athletes in the Toronto area. With a management team that garners over 100 years of collective experience in the sport as players and management, the league is focused on the future and is player-oriented. The league runs a weekly house league from October through May each year, providing para-athletes with various disabilities and skill levels who use a power wheelchair the opportunity to partake in a recreational, yet competitive sport. Once the league championship is over, the season wraps up with a banquet where awards are handed out to recipients for their outstanding achievements. Each summer a select team of the top players is chosen to represent the league at a tournament. Beyond the hockey, the league fosters friendships, relationships, and a tight-knit community of lifelong friends. From the coaches to the management, the organization is volunteer-run and defines itself as truly community-based.
