After months of preparation for the 2019 PowerHockey Canada Cup, PowerHockey Toronto’s Toronto Toros were ready to compete! From July 11-14 the Toronto Toros played hard and competed against some of the top powerhockey teams in North America at Humber College in Toronto. After the Round Robin they were seeded 2nd overall behind the Philadelphia Flyers PowerPlay. On July 13 the Toros faced-off against the Michigan Mustangs in their Semifinal matchup where they took a resounding 5-1 win to earn a berth in the Gold Medal Game on the afternoon of July 14th. The Toros would go up against the Philadelphia Flyers PowerPlay in what could arguably be one of the most exciting and epic powerhockey games in history. After an end-of-end 45 minutes of non-stop action, despite a last ditch comeback with a goal with 10 seconds left, the Toros would ultimately fall short in a 4-3 loss to the PowerPlay. The team put in a solid effort all weekend and brought home a Silver Medal from the 2019 PowerHockey Canada Cup!
Additionally, Michael Martins was recognized for his outstanding play by receiving the award for Best Two-Way Player and the Toronto Toros coaching staff was awarded the Best Coaching Staff of the tournament.
